We are looking for a Summer 2024 Intern in the Power Finance departmentfor current College/University students. The internship is a paid, full-time position that will take place for 8-10 weeks.

The Power & Project Finance Group are a specialized team of experienced industry experts with a proven record of structuring and efficiently executing custom financing solutions for owners of power generation assets and power-related infrastructure projects across the United States.The team provides construction and term debt, acquisition financing, revolving credit facilities, and letters of credit for projects in the solar, wind, natural gas-fired, energy storage, geothermal, hydroelectric, and transmission sectors. This team's deep experience is complemented by the full product suite of Zions Capital Markets, enabling the team to perform all essential roles of a syndicated project financing, including loan syndications, administrative agency services, and interest rate hedging. Typical project financing transactions range from $50 million to over $500 million.

California Bank & Trust's Summer Internship Program gives students the opportunity to gain valuable and practical work experience in their majors, explore the banking/finance industry, and learn aboutour culture and business philosophy.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in financial modeling and analysis, identifying key risks, monitoring borrower reporting requirements, assisting senior bankers with loan structuring and pricing, preparing extensive written credit analysis, monitoring credit performance and writing credit presentations.
  • Provides analytical and marketing support during the origination and execution of new lending opportunities. Assists with the production and ongoing maintenance of marketing materials.
  • Responsible for maintaining various internal databases promptly and accurately
  • Handles reporting on loans such as past dues, documentation and collateral exceptions, financial performance updates, portfolio profitability, risk grades, etc.
  • Assists bankers with new and existing loan requests and other special projects.
  • Attends client meetings, conferences, site visits and other industry events with senior bankers.
  • Acts as primary account officer on assigned transactions within the portfolio including maintaining accurate risk ratings, executing amendments, preparing monitoring materials and other tasks and administrative items.
  • Applies all applicable credit policies and internal processes for the execution and funding of new transactions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be currently enrolled in a College/University or graduated within the current year with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and working toward a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or similar degree (be sure to include your GPA on your resume or cover letter).
  • Interest in power related finance and knowledge of financial analysis.
  • An understanding of a credit processes and procedures.
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Solid problem resolution, organization and time management skills.
  • Must be detailed oriented. Strong analytical capability.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to review extensive and complicated reports and distill key findings into executive summaries efficiently and accurately.
  • Ability to learn and apply complex concepts quickly.
  • Knowledge of various software applications including word processing and spreadsheets.

This position is eligible to earn a base rate of $23/hr.
