Summary
Under the guidance of an External Affairs officer, interns support DFC's public affairs and communications activities as well as congressional and inter-agency outreach. Duties include assisting with press outreach, drafting promotional materials, helping manage web and social media content, planning and executing events for foreign and U.S. dignitaries, and conducting research related to legislative issues.

Responsibilities
The Office of External Affairs (OEA) is the public affairs, communications, and Congressional and interagency liaison arm of OPIC. The office manages all aspects of external outreach to various audiences, such as:- Issuing press releases and media advisories;- Publishing all printed materials (e.g. brochures, newsletters, and annual reports);- Managing OPIC's web and social media platforms;- Arranging investment- and foreign policy-related events such as seminars, conferences, and receptions;- Conducting congressional outreach and analyzing legislative issues.

Qualifications
Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited school pursuing degrees in Government/Public Policy/Political Science, International Affairs/Development, Communications/Marketing, and/or International Business/Finance. Successful completion of a background investigation is required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint programs are also required.
